A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the 2024 Kips Bay Designer Show House in Palm Beach

Explore the designs behind each of the 21 spaces in this beautiful home.

We're counting down the days until the next Kips Bay Decorator Show House in Palm Beach, one of our editors' favorite design destinations. This year's group of creatives range from long-time locals to West Coasters and everyone in between, each bringing their own unique decorating perspective to this modern villa property in West Palm Beach's desirable "SoSo" neighborhood. While the designers are currently working to bring their creative visions to life, we're offering a behind-the-scenes look at the renderings of several spaces, plus a little inspiration behind their designs.

are on sale now, with opening day on February 22 and general admission lasting from February 23 through March 17. As always, all proceeds from this event go towards the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, along with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County. This year's event chairs include VERANDA Editor in Chief Steele Marcoux, Joy Moyler and Ellie Cullman, along with Co-Chairs Jonathan Savage and Billy Ceglia. Bunny Williams will serve as the Honorary Chair.

Environmental Design Group: Front Garden

Palm Beach, Florida-based is responsible for creating a tropical oasis in the front garden. The initial renderings show a mix of lush palms as well as potted citrus trees and groomed topiaries lining the home's front walkway.

Ariel Okin Interiors: Second Floor Terrace

New York-based is tasked with transforming the home's 4,500-square-foot upper level terrace. The designer is finding inspiration closer to home for her "Trellis Garden," namely from legendary Palm Beach architects John Volk and Maurice Fatio. She has also looked to the courtyards of Europe's most elegant estates to create a layout that cleverly anchors the vastness of this terrace.

Betsy Wentz Interiors: Second Floor Hall/Lounge

Betsy Wentz Interiors
Pennsylvania-based is transforming the second floor's hall and common area into a colorful, richly layered parlor that's perfect for sipping and snacking with friends. The designer is leaning into a lavender and floral color scheme that feels fresh and inviting while in line with Palm Beach's colorful aesthetic.

OBMI: Second Floor Guest Bedroom 2

Carlos Agelet and Allie Bergeron of Miami-based architecture firm are tasked with breathing new life into one of the home's three guest bedrooms. Titled "Golden Hour," this space is being created as a living collection of a travel writer's lifetime of adventures and the memories he holds dear. Wellness is an underlying theme of the space to establish a destination for true restoration and refreshment in unabashed luxury.

Melrose Interiors: Downstairs Hall/Stairs

Charlie Collins of Charleston-based design firm found inspiration from another stunning and sunny locale, Antigua, to dictate the design of the home's downstairs hall and staircase. Collins tapped some of her favorite regional artisans and craftspeople to create a uniquely layered space, including a show-stopping trellis wall from a local nursery that features two floors of mounted stag horn ferns.

Redmond Aldrich Design: Rear Pool Loggia

Chloe Warner of Bay Area interiors firm is going all in on pattern to create a swoon-worthy pool loggia. This space intentionally eschews trends as Warner conceived of it as a room her grandmother would have enjoyed decades ago and as well as somewhere her daughter will gravitate to in the years to come. Tenting the space infuses it with an intimate feel while there is plenty of room to gather friends for card games and cocktails.

Rinfret, Ltd: Second Floor Primary Bedroom

Greenwich, Connecticut-based designer has dubbed the home's primary bedroom "Seashell Sanctuary," imagined to be a soft, elegant space filled with bespoke details. Rinfret found inspiration in nearby Vizcaya and the Italianate grottos at the estate to bring in the whimsical and historic grandeur while keeping in step with all the contemporary creature comforts of a luxurious bedroom suite tucked away from the the rest of the home.

Jessica Jubelirer Design: Her Bath/Dressing Room

Bicoastal designer leans into the timeless design elements of warmth and coziness to create a fresh and enduring retreat for the woman of the house. She looked to the classic aesthetic of the Amalfi Coast in the 1960s, which feels appropriate for the modern Palm Beach aesthete, as well as the functionality and utilitarian purpose of this space. Jubelirer also pays homage to the motifs of French artist Christian Bérard, who featured flora and fauna in midcentury color palate of warm earth tones, to ground the space in nature.

New York-based has sought none other than James Bond as her muse for this chic bath and dressing space. She is channelling his timeless allure for this bespoke boudoir which "goes beyond the iconic persona, allowing him to shed the layers and return to a more authentic and grounded state."

Local designer pays homage to her hometown with a chic cabana bathroom and is inspired by her favorite way to spend a Saturday in Palm Beach: floating in the sea. This space is full of artisanal pieces and is infused with vintage elements and a blend of textures for a distinct and decadent jewel box bath.

Jim Dove Design: Kitchen

Palm Beach-based is tasked with designing the home's gracious kitchen, which he has reconfigured as a "celebration of hospitality and the art of cooking." He is taking design cues from Dorothy Draper to infuse the cook space with color and vibrancy. The design of the space is intended to fit right in with the joie de vivre of Palm Beach living, what Dove deems "an appreciation for food, drink, comfort, and the pursuit of the 'good life.'"

Based in nearby Boca Raton, is seeking to strike a balance in the never-ending design debate between minimalism versus maximalism in this primary living space. The furniture plan embraces the former to create a serene, yet inviting destination with an ideal flow for hosting large groups, while the design scheme embraces maximalism in pattern play and luxurious details that are far from understated.

"Gimme a Minute" is designed to be a decadent place for a fun, colorful woman to unwind from a hectic week or day. The designer says she's really loving red and pink pairings right now and is bringing her penchant for glamour to this color scheme, along with indulgent pops of leopard print.

He elevates the use of cerulean blues and sandy neutrals through color blocking, the use of textural contrast, geometric fabrics, and a collection of one-of-a-kind decorations to bring personality in unexpected ways.

of the namesake interior architecture and design firm in Virginia is reimagining a second floor bedroom as "A Gentleman's Affair with Sunset Tea." Intended to be a haven for a tastemaking traveler in need of solitude and contemplation, Reynolds is using an array of moody, warm colors; textural, luxurious decorations; and a state-of-the-art bar set up to create a bonafide indoor paradise.

Miami-based designer and New York-based are teaming up to redesign the home's second floor media room. They made the bold move to select a monochromatic color palette to provide "relief to the eye" and establish a place for respite and retreat. That said, this space is anything but one-dimensional. The team looked to mid-twentieth century designs to bring in sculptural furnishings and textural walls.

The bedroom is a favorite space of Atlanta-based designer , though she says this room was a bit challenging with its more-than-gracious size and high ceilings. She counters the generous square footage with a show stopping four-poster bed with bed hangings that anchor the space. Enveloping the room is a large-scale wallcovering inspired by patterns of boxwood parterre gardens that dictate the design scheme for the room.

Local team has dubbed the family room "Le Tropical," giving it the vibe of a maximalist, opulent Parisian lounge with a hefty dose of yesteryear glamour. The space is an homage to the early modernist textile designer Elise Djo-Bourgeois and her namesake fabric line. It strikes a balance between attention-grabbing details and soft curves for a harmonious, pleasing space that captures the firm's moody tropical aesthetic.
